The Caddel Digital Family Album |
| This may be the
beginning of a long journey. Don't be afraid to stop. It
is impossible to see all the pictures at one time. There were an
estimated 44,000 files in 700 folders in this digital album (Nov. 2008).
This translates to about 6000 pictures; the rest just keep the system
working. You may want to make
a note of where you stopped. Just remember you are using your
regular web browser that you use to surf the web. Note: It is not important to take any particular path or order. When it is working correctly, your web browser will bring you back to the beginning.
Organization This may be called unorganized because it is not particularly logical to someone who was not involved in putting it together. After considering many different approaches to "organize" this digital family album, we decided to just start, and it would evolve. It is still evolving. Any suggestions to make it more easily used would be appreciated. Since we began organizing our family pictures in the early 1990's and made the decision to put it into a "simple web" format, computers and software have changed drastically. So, if parts seem to be "old fashion" in web terms, it is because we did not want to trash everything and start over. We have long recognized that this project will never be finished. I hope to just keep plugging along. What images are included? We have scanned whatever pictures and slides we have, with little thought as to what was included or excluded. As digital cameras replaced film, we tended to take many more pictures and they were much easier to include in the album. The digital images were easier to edit and to pick and choose which ones to include or exclude. Sometimes there was no particular reason for taking certain pictures. The camera was handy and we captured what was available. This is said so that the viewer will not waste time asking, "Why did they take that picture"? Credits We would love to credit (and in some cases, blame) the photographers who contributed (usually unknowingly), but most of the time we don't know who took the pictures. So, essentially all images are anonymous. If you identify images you want credit for, let us know and we'll do what we can. Help!! If you have images that you want to add to this album, send them to me. Digital images are easier than prints, but I can still scan prints and slides. There is a "Who's Who" and a "Cast of Characters" that are under revision but linked from the bottom of main pages. Your assistance in completing it and/or reorganizing it would be appreciated. |
